Softball Swept at Delta
Delta College swept ACC in MCCAA Northern Conference softball last weekend by scores of 12-4, 10-9, 12-9 and 16-4.
In the second game of the series, the Lumberjacks led 9-7 after batting in the sixth, but the Ducks scored two in the bottom of the frame to tie it and scored in the bottom of the 7th to win in walk-off fashion.
The opener on Saturday was another tight game with ACC falling behind 8-3 early, but batting back with four in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 8-7. The key hit in the rally was an RBI double by Kenna Tippman.
For the series, Abigail Platt led the hitters with a .727 batting average (8 for 11) for the weekend. Femke Van Elsacker was 5 for 10 (.500). Kenna Tippman also hit .500, going 7 for 14, including five doubles. She scored six times and drove in three.
Makayla Kamyszek was 5 for 12 with four runs and four RBI. She also pitched two complete games and struck out 10 in 12.2 innings. Olivia Leland homered and drove in a team leading five runs.
The Lumberjacks (2-13 overall, 1-7 conference) return to action this weekend on Friday at Siena Heights and Saturday at Jackson College.
